Fran Johnson - President

Memphis Light, Gas & Water
Memphis, TN

Francenia Johnson, PHR, is Supervisor of Operations and Measurements at Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division (MLGW), Memphis, TN. MLGW is the nation's largest three-service municipal utility and provides electric, gas and water service to nearly 430,000 customers. Fran's area has responsibility for succession planning, talent management, evaluation of continuing education courses, corporate climate surveys, employment and promotional testing, quality improvement teams and leadership development.

While on IACET's board Fran has served on the Strategic Planning Committee, Executive Committee, Program Planning Committee, Chairman of Membership Resources Committee, and is now the 2011-2012 President of the International Association for Continuing Education and Training.

Fran is also a member of American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and Society of Human Resources (SHRM) and holds degrees in education from Morris Brown College and University of Memphis (formerly Memphis State University). Fran has over 30 years in the area of education and training and is a Covey and Organization Dynamics, Inc. (ODI) certified trainer.

Todd Shinholster - President-Elect

Michael Todd Shinholster is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Culture Bridge and a Lecturer of International Business at Kennesaw State University. Todd, as he is known, has worked on various projects for companies and organizations such as Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Siemens, KIA, AGCO, Lowe's, The Coca-Cola Company, Georgia Lottery, DuPont and Solvay Pharmaceuticals. He has also worked for Delta Air Lines, the Atlanta Paralympic Organizing Committee, the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games and the 2004 G-8 Summit.

Todd serves on the Board of Directors for the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is a member of Phi Beta Delta – Honor Society for International Scholars and the German School of Atlanta. He continues to work, consult and teach in a variety of areas including international affairs, international business, cross-cultural training and corporate event logistics.

Todd received his M.B.A. in International Business from Kennesaw State University and his B.A. in German (Language & International Business Concentration) from Georgia State University.

Kristopher Newbauer - Secretary

Kristopher Newbauer, EdM, MHRM, SPHR, CPLP, CPT is Director of Human Resources Learning & Organization Development at Rotary International, the world's oldest—and one of the largest—humanitarian service club organizations in the world. Mr. Newbauer holds a Masters of Education (EdM) in Global Human Resource Development from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Masters of Human Resource Management (MHRM). He holds certificates in human resources from Cornell University, DePaul University, and the American Management Association. Newbauer serves on the adjunct faculty in the Department of Education Policy, Organization and Leadership in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Murray Cohen - Treasurer

Frontline Foundation
Atlanta, GA

Dr. Cohen is President and Chairman of the Frontline Healthcare Workers Safety Foundation, Ltd. A certified industrial hygienist, Dr. Cohen is an internationally recognized expert in occupationally transmitted infectious diseases, risk assessment, bioterrorism, and biosafety/biosecurity. Dr. Cohen currently serves as the Executive Director of the National Biosafety & Biocontainment Training Program (NBBTP), is a voting member of the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity (NSABB), and Treasure on the Board of Directors for the International Associations for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

He contributed to the CDC Biosafety Core Competency Model Development for BSL 2-4 work group, is a non-voting member of the ANSI/AIHA Committee for Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory Standards, and serves on the Federal Interagency Expert Panel for Anthrax Spore Efficacy Test Methods and Surrogates. He consults for the NIH as well as several other U.S. and foreign government agencies, including the World Health Organization. Dr. Cohen retired as a Captain from the U.S. Public Health Service following a 21-year career with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He has been a member of AIHA and ACGIH since 1975. As a Certified Industrial Hygienist he is a Diplomat of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.

He earned his B.A. with Honors in Biological Sciences from the University of Texas, his Masters of Public Health from the University Of Texas School Of Public Health, and his Doctor of Philosophy in Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences from the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago.

Karen LaMarsh - Commission Chair

Currently, Karen is the Director of Professional Development and Training with Clayton State University Center for Continuing Education. Mrs. LaMarsh holds an engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters in Adult Education from the University of Georgia. Her experience includes eight years with the College of Continuing Education at Kennesaw State University and most recently as an internal auditor for the University System of Georgia Board of Regents.

She is the President Elect of the Georgia Adult Education Association. Karen serves as a commissioner for the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), sits on the Executive Committee of the Commission and facilitates Authorized Provider Workshops.

Tara Lynne Orlowski - Council Chair

North Florida Community College
Madison, FL

Tara Orlowski is the Chair of the Council on Standards Development. She has a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Florida. She is an Institutional Effectiveness Coordinator and Early Childhood Program Director at North Florida Community College. In addition to her experience in higher education, she also has a background in public policy at the state government level.

Karen Niles - Immediate Past President

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
Rockville, MD

Karen Niles is Director of Professional Development for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), a professional membership organization representing more than 140,000 speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech and hearing scientists. Karen's unit is responsible for needs assessment, program development, delivery, and evaluation of continuing professional education programs for ASHA members. With an emphasis on distance learning technologies, ASHA Professional Development records more than 22,000 course completions in approximately 200 programs every year.

Before joining ASHA, Karen worked for the Direct Marketing Association of Washington, the American Society of Landscape Architects, and the Graduate School, USDA. She specializes in developing profit-generating business units in nonprofit organizations.

Karen holds degrees in philosophy from the College of William and Mary and Oxford University. She was the 2010-2011 President of the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

Connie Dempsey - At-Large Member

Connie Dempsey joined Penn Foster in 1988 and currently serves as their Chief Academic Officer. Prior to joining the company, she was a teacher and served in various positions in education, business, and industry. In 2005, Ms. Dempsey transitioned from Director of Compliance and Academic Affairs to her current position, where she is responsible for academic policies, oversight of faculty, instructional activities, regulatory compliance, and strategic direction.

Ms.Dempsey received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education from Bloomsburg University and a Master of Science Degree in Correlated Business from the University of Scranton. She is currently serving a third appointed term on the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools and is a member of the Research and Educational Standards Committee of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).

Hira Ahuja

Epic Educational Program Innovations Center Inc.

Hira Ahuja M.ASC., FCSCE. P.Eng. was appointed Resident Engineer for construction of Thapar University Campus. In 1969, he joined as faculty at the Memorial University of Newfoundland where he redefined the need for continuing education and offered seminars in fisheries, ocean engineering, offshore operations of the petroleum industry, and iceberg management.

In 1984, he moved to the Technical University of Nova Scotia where he pioneered the cross-Canada program. He started EPIC Educational Program Innovations Centre and offered continuing engineering education program from 1992-1997 in partnership with the University of Toronto. EPIC runs a professional development program for engineers in a variety of disciplines to meet the changing needs of the industry. In 2010, Mr. Ahuja started the College of Engineering Technology which has a fast-tracking program for immigrant engineers that fill the gaps in their own knowledge and skills to help them gain employment in their field.

John Bramblett

John M. Bramblett is currently employed with Evande Digital Communications, LLC, in Huntsville, AL as the Chief Operations Officer (COO). He has over 45 years experience in the field of education and training with both the public and private sector. His experience ranges from classroom instructor, training developer, Chief of Distance Learning for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Director of Multimedia Productions for a local contractor to his current position as COO with a multimedia company that specializes in the design and development of Interactive Multimedia Instructional (IMI) materials. These materials include training modules; technical, documentary, historical, promotional, and marketing videos; brochures; computer-based training; web-based training; computer animation; and graphics. He possesses an Ed. S degree in curriculum development and is currently serving a second term on the IACET Board of Directors.

Tom Creely

Dr. Tom Creely is CEO of EthixFirma, LLC, an applied ethics education and advising services company. Since 2005, his affiliation with IACET has included being an Authorized Provider and a Commissioner, as well as serving on the Nominating Committee. In 1995, Tom first taught Naval Officers under the IACET Guidelines at the Naval Education and Training Center, Newport, RI.

After retiring as a career Naval Officer, he has been Associate Director of the Center for Ethics and Corporate Responsibility, Georgia State University, an Assistant Professor of Graduate Studies at the Siegel Institute for Leadership, Ethics and Character, Kennesaw State University, and Adjunct Professor at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. Tom is a founding member of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta and has served on the Board of Directors of Atlanta Compliance and Ethics Roundtable and as Vice Chair of the Beaufort County Affordable Housing Governing Council. Tom earned his Ph.D. at Salve Regina University and has MDIV and MBA degrees. He currently resides in Metro Atlanta.

Lori Schnaider

University of RBF

Ms. Schnaider oversees professional development at RBF Consulting (one of the Nation's leading planning, design and construction firms) which includes the University of RBF which achieved IACET Accreditation in 2009. She has over thirteen years of experience in professional development, with experience in both corporate and higher education developing and managing programs to meet changing organizational needs.

Although her experience extends to children, she specializes in program development and adult learning theories and advocates integrating technology into the learning environment for better transfer of knowledge. This is Ms. Schnaider's first term on IACET's Board of Directors.

Catherine Wagner

Eastern AHEC, Inc
Jewett City, CT

Catherine Wagner is the Executive Director of Eastern Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Program which is an Authorized Provider of the International Association of Continuing Education and Training, providing cultural and linguistic competency training for healthcare administrators, physicians and other healthcare providers. Dr. Wagner developed the Collegiate Health Service Corps Program that recruits and trains a diverse student body to work in the healthcare field with the goal of increasing the workforce diversity.

The CHSC was recently selected by the National Health Service Corps for national replication. Catherine is one of the founders and creator of the Connecticut Multicultural Health Partnership. She received the Excellence in Leadership Award by the State Department of Public Health for her work with the Partnership. Catherine is also the Director of Curricula for Health Equity with the Connecticut State Medical Society and volunteers with Mission de Cayes in Les Cayes, Haiti.

Sandra Williams

Sandra L. Williams is a consultant and professor of ethics, corporate values, and building trust in the workplace. Her work is a unique blend of business experience, training and development, and current research in the human resource development field.

Dr. Williams is the creator of two values-based ethics training programs offered by the Better Business Bureau of Chicago entitled: Ethics for Business Success, and is the designer of Insight, an integrity guiding program for leaders. She is also the author of a strategic and team responsibility program published as Human Capital Management & Development. Her mission is to elevate the level of trustworthiness, ethical behavior, and value principles within organizations, and to provide leaders with a foundation for both corporate responsibility and personal integrity. Toward this end, she designs ethics training programs and customizes ethical leadership workshops.

Dr. Williams’ written work has been published in both research journals and management magazines, including: the Journal of Organizational Excellence, the International Journal of Evidence Based Coaching and Mentoring, Business Horizons Journal, Human Resource Development International, the RMA Journal, Corporate Responsibility Officer, Association Forum, and Human Resource Management Perspectives.

Her training seminars offer practical tools to raise leadership levels and corporate responsibility profiles, while building respected marketplace reputations for organizations. Topics include: Ethics for Leaders; Trust in the Workplace; Leading With Integrity, and Strategic Corporate Responsibility. She also designs customized training programs and strategic planning sessions for organizations. Recent clients include: Bank of America, the Better Business Bureau, True Value Corporation, Deloitte & Touche, Integritas Institute, the Illinois Leadership Center, DePaul University, the ABA’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking, the Illinois CPA Society, and the Union League Club of Chicago.

Dr. Williams is a professor of Human Resource development and a Master Instructor in Online learning within the College of Education at the University of Illinois. She is a former Senior Vice President with Bank of America, where she was responsible for executive learning and development.
